The first meeting of The Believers at LSU for Fall 2009 was held on Thursday, August 27, 2009 in Allen Hall 139. Beginning at 6:00 PM with a meal graciously provided by community supporters of Believers at LSU and some singing, the club's officers gave a brief presentation of club activities for the semester.
In brief, the activities of the club include:
- Weekly campus fellowship meeting - Thursday nights, 6:00 PM in Allen Hall, room 139
- Weekly Bible study - This is still in the works, but will be annouced as soon as we know something
- One-on-One - There are several older students, parents and community supporters of the club that are available throughout the week to meet with students to pray, fellowship and read the Bible.
- Home meetings - Many of the parents and club supporters in the community open their homes during the week to students for a meal, fellowship, clothes washing, etc.
- College Age Conference - Eacch semester, Believers at LSU participates in a weekend conference near Waco, TX at which 600-800 students from throughout the South and Southwest gather to study the Bible together, fellowship together and encourage one another to pursue Christ for the building up of His testimony on the earth. This semester's conference will be over the weekend of October 23 - 25, 2009. Mark your calendars!

Next, a brief overview of the content of this semester's study of the Bible was presented. This semester, we will dive into The Crucial Points of the Truth in Romans. Here is a brief taste:
- The Designation of Jesus Christ to be the Son of God. – 1:3-4, 8:29
- The Righteousness of God revealed in the gospel. – 1:16-17
- The power and characteristics of God manifested in His creation. – 1:18-20
- The human conscience as the law to the Gentiles. – 2:14-15
- The propitiation-cover for God’s justification. – 3:23-26
- Justification by faith in the One who gives life to the dead and calls the things not being as being. – 4:17
That is just the first six weeks. You can get a copy of the handout that lists all the topics to be covered by clicking in the ATTACHMENTS section at the bottom of this article. It is quite likely that we will not get to all of these topics this semester and will have to finsih our study in the Spring of 2010.
